Any tips for Busking acoustic in the USA

I'm near Philly right now, but I don't usually do cities that big. My issue with the US is usually low foot traffic, or a lot of background noise from vehicles. The best pitch I ever had in this country was outside a Walmart, so I'll be trying more pitches like that, and hoping I don't get moved on. Once I get to the west coast I'll have an amp, but for the moment it's just my and the guitar/vocals.
