trying to have a career as a BI developper (i am not the best to analyse but I love to build the data, model and create vizualization). I am currently in FP&A and will have the opportunity to become DBA assistant (In the same org). Should I go ?

Basically in FP&A I already built most of the excel file and some power BI (asked the DBA to built my SQL table, I import them, model them, write some basic DAX and create a report mostly using pivot table and cubevalue formula). SO Far everything is going smooth and I loved developping everything. Every file I create as a "Slicer" tab. So they jsut ahve to go there select the year, quarter, month, budget version, and everything else is getting filled with the good data.

But it was a new departement and I'Ve been there for 2 years now, and I don't think I see much more opportunity to develop more reporting, so they want me to focus and spend more time on analyzing the data (like instead of creating a report, I will go in my own report find big variation, contact the operation about what could had caused this variation and write the text explaining it.

It honestly doesn't really interest me at all...compared to creating a report.

So the DBA last week asked me if I would be willing to become his assistant (seeing I know my shit, after asking him all the SQL table and even something sending him the SQL query)

I am not sure what my new responsibilities would be, be he said we have a lot of data coming from the operation that we need to ETL and we are also currently buying 2 new software (consolidation and accounting software) and that I will be part of integrating them.

My endgoal I think is to slowly learn and move toward a role where I can just build report and model and automate report, etc. (so I think this is called a BI developer?)
