While I was locked to my couch during the lockdown, I've spent much time watching and reading about bushcraft and survivalism in general and I've really gotten into it a lot, I feel like it'd be something I currently need in my life. My plan is to start doing occasional mini trips on the weekends, to escape the stressful London life. The problem for me is that I've just recently moved to the UK from another country and don't have many friends. In addition, none of my current friends/coworkers are into it, and I don't think it'd be a good idea for me to do it on my own for the first time. So what I'm wondering is basically where would be the best to start. Is there some kind of bushcraft social club or something similar where I can meet likeminded people? What are some good places to start camping/spending a night out not far from London? What do you consider essential equipment and where is a good place to find it? Any recommendations regarding the start would really mean a lot to me because as I said, I really feel like this could be my new long term hobby I will actually enjoy. Thanks in advance! :)
