Me (44) and my husband (49) have been in an open relationship for about 8 years, with us taking a break in between at times. At the time our son (19) was living with us, so we kept our home lives and personal lives separate with my boyfriend.
Over time however we slowly started inviting my bf into our personal life. We've had him over when our friends come over for get togethers and just spending casual time. My husband usually mentions thay he's an old friend and is new in the area so is trying to help him meet new.
After our son moved out, my bf would be over more often. But there were times when our son would visit unannounced and ask why my bf was at home usually on the weekend. He also spoke to my husband about feeling like something else was going on between me and my bf, so we decided to tell him about us being in an open relationship. It's gone alright so far but I do think that telling him was the right thing to do.
