Would appreciate a local to help with race car mechanics?

Post Body

Hello, I building a 81 Camero for drag racing specifically with my brother, and it has a chevy 350 small block that's stroked out to 383.

Besides that, I've no idea what specs it has for engine (cam shaft or any machining inside the block. I'm having immense issue timing it and getting it to steadily fire.

I've checked plugs, wires, distributor, combustion, firing order, carborator and some other misc things.

I've tried going off the harmonic balancer line on 0 for the timing and everything in between 12 advanced and 12 after for initial. Thinking maybe the balancer mark was wrong, I then tried setting off compression on cylinder 1 and still nothing. I've played with the distributor at about 45° of play from the rotor pointing to cylinder 1 on each instance trying to find that sweet spot.

I know this isn't a ton of information, and I apologize. I'd appreciate any advice or help. Hopefully a local can help or recommend someone that can help.

(I do not want to take it to a shop if I don't have to, that's absolute last resort as the build is a brother bonding thing)
