It has always bothered me that Buffalo has often fallen in a national blind spot. We're not east enough to be east coast but we're not quite West enough to be Midwestern. When we talk about rust belt cities Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Detroit always outshine Buffalo when discussing solutions for the problem. This is despite having a natural wonder, being located on a great lake, being an international border city that is a central hub for international trade, and closest American city to Canada's largest city.
This video by Vox is no different. Even Cincinnati got to be a focus over Buffalo. But i think the suggestion vox is making could be a really good move for Buffalo and I'm sharing it in hopes of at least getting a conversation started on it. After all, Buffalo has been referred to as America's eastern most Midwest city and we're close enough to the east coast cities that we could start bringing the east coast wealth inland. Share your thoughts, I would love to see Buffalo have some level of national importance again.
