How bad are the ticks out here?

I'm in the process of moving out to the Buffalo area from the Capital Region and I'm curious how bad the ticks are out this way. They can be a total nightmare in Albany - what's it gonna be like in our new home?

Use a preventative for sure. Any area with tall grass gets very tick-y. My dog used to go for group walks and every time she'd be dropped off she'd have 2-3 ticks on her (usually nearly dead by that point, thankfully)
