Hi there,
First of all, I'm new and I've been meaning to get a new DAP to replace my iPod Classic (7th gen) that I've been using for about 9 years. Figured that it's about time since I spend most of my days listening to music whether I'm indoors (desktop/laptop setup) or outside and want to enhance that experience (within budget since I know that the rabbit hole goes quite deep).
I've been meaning to get a Fiio X3 mk3 since I'd like to be able to use the USB DAC function to make listening at home better. I will be using a Fiio F5 on the go and an (old) Grado SR60i when indoors. My question is, is the X3 a bit of an overkill for a guy like me or will the X1 do? I know that the X1 doesn't have the USB DAC function, but does having the X3 USB DAC make a big difference when playing music at home?
Budget for the DAP is about the price of the X3
Budget for IEMs (haven't got the F5s just yet) is sub $100
Already have the Grado SR60i
