Sub for Music?
Post Body

Do you use a sub for your music listening? Is a modern 2.1 system superior to full ranger loudspeakers in you experience?

I have some old Fischers 3-ways and a hand-me-down Sansui A5 (bargain stuff, even then). The Ficshers have 12" woofers and I love them, but I'm looking into newer speakers and I am looking at bookshelves and floorstanders with woofers 5-6", I just want to be sure I'll be getting the most out of orchestral and Jazz with intricate bass passages. I'm not sure if I can ask specific purchase help so this is more generally about 3-way vs. 2.1.
