I'm having a hard time deciding which way to go for my first setup. I don't plan on upgrading since the used market isn't really an option here in India.

the main issue is whether I should go for speakers, sub, and amp or active speakers and active sub. from what I’ve learned, passive is the way to go for better flexibility, whereas active is the way to go for cost efficiency.

budget is $150-180, with a future sub upgrade planned. should I get a 2.1 amp or go for active speakers since I'm focusing only on bass? What are the downsides of going active?
