Hello,
A few years ago, I scrapped some of my old junks to make a home juke-box. My digital collection is on a mini-computer on which I configured a MPD server, that can in turn be accessed and controlled from any of our computers or android devices. The computer is connected to a dirt cheap car amplifier through mini-jack, and I linked the two small speakers of my childhood hifi stereo. I am satisfied with the controls, but of course the sound quality is really bad. The good news is, it can only improve from there.
If I get this right, switching to the HDMI output of the computer will ensure lossless quality. So my goal would now be to look for a decent DAC and Amplifier to replace the current one.
I am actually not really budget limited. I simply like to be parsimonious when it comes to buy stuff (you know, the planet...) and I find it fun to work on small DIY project like this. I am also fine to wait for a good second hand opportunity. But let's say I would not want to spend over 600€ (speakers not included, I would think about those later). Any recommendations, or second-hand references I should look for ? =)
