Let's take the most harm preventing action in the Eightfold Path: Don't kill
In present times, I don't think there is one person that could kill a human being and don't generate harm in their minds. Even psychopaths generate some kind of reaction.
But what if, with future neurotechnology, or whatever other advancement you can imagine. Someone could remain equanimous after killing a person. Not developing aversion or desire.
And what if we apply that to every path in the ethical section: Right Action, Right Effort, Right Livehood
Would you say that this hypothetical person could get rid of suffering if his Mental and Wisdom Paths are perfect, and his Ethical Paths are not cared for, but don't take a toll on his mind?
