Gelug and Kagyu… and Finding a Sangha

Post Body

After some study , consideration, and deep thought I’ve decided I want to pursue deeper studies of Buddhism. I am more drawn to the Mahayana side of things, especially the school of Tibetan Buddhism, perhaps because of the syncretism of the tantric and the mundane, and perhaps because it’s what I’ve become most familiar with. I know Tibetan Buddhism is divided down further and am somewhat familiar with the Gelug and Kagyu schools but am trying to learn the difference and which would be a better fit for me. I’m also trying to find a Sangha near me ( because I don’t really think online is a viable option) and would appreciate guidance there too.

The closest “city” to me is Lexington KY but Louisville KY and Cincinnati OH are both a little over an hour from me so not beyond the realm of being drivable.

Thanks for any help you can give!
