Hi all
My daughter lives out of state and I'll be visiting her this next weekend. She has her heart set on a new 2024 Bronco Sport and has asked me to go with her because it will be her first experience with buying a car. We have narrowed it down to a couple specific Bronco Sports. The posted "good deal" price comes in about $4500 below MSRP, but when I went to the dealers "Build My Payment" link, there were a couple add ons.
One is "Ford Consumer Connect: 12 months." I'm not exactly sure what that is but I assume I can decline it. At $499 for 12 months, it seems rather expensive.
The other is for Dealer-Installed Equipment. $899
- Tint$375
- Wheel Locks$149
- InvisiShield$375
Every vehicle in inventory has this $899 add on, and it sounds like it's already installed so too bad if you don't want it, but maybe I'm wrong. My bias from dealing with many car dealers over the years that this is stuff added on without any input from the customer and then included at a greatly inflated cost, but I'm trying not to be too cynical.
Finally, it's been a long time since I've purchased a new car myself. Beyond the $4500 below MSRP, how much wiggle room is in today's "posted on the internet" prices.
At any rate, my daughter works hard for her money, and as a protective father, I want to make sure she gets a fair deal. I'm not out to make the dealer bleed, but I also don't want her to be taken advantage of.
Here's one of the Bronco Sports she is looking at for reference.
