Can someone pls explain #DL culture to me? I don’t get all the showing off, yet hiding, at the same time.

So, guys just vanish the moment you ask to see what they look like—even after offering to share a face pic. Poof. Gone. Houdini.
For me, it’s pretty standard to put yourself out there confidently. I generally lead by example in this capacity. From “go” I introduce myself, share my name, a pic of myself. Easy, polite social society stuff.
I don’t get #DL hiding culture. Can some explain?
