I'll start. I am an urban ornithologist, so occupational hazard. I sometimes have dead birds that need to be transported to necessary facilities for research purposes. Since I live kinda far from Manhattan I have rushed with dead birds in my bag (winter only and never saw a show with dead birds). I have also brought an entire watermelon in my backpack, along with a thing of lightbulbs for lamps in my house.
Call the theatre ahead of time and ask. Usually it’s the bar staff that have to look after your stuff if they don’t have a designated coat check.

I remember this post! I felt so bad since it was most likely someone that just had dinner and wanted to take some sauce home as a souvenir from their trip.
