Tl;Dr: I didnt like it. No spoilers ahead.
I hesitated posting this because I kept seeing so many 10/10!! rave reviews, and I don't want to be the sole naysayer simply to be the person who dislikes the popular thing.
But... eh?
I'm not going to give anything away about the plot, but to be honest, there is nothing about the plot to give away. Imagine any 1990s romcom movie, and you have the entire plot already mapped out in your head. That's it. That's the story. Meet-cute -- will they? -- won't they? -- TWIST! -- they do.
With two exceptions, every single song was a generic ballad, and with such a minuscule cast, hearing them sing the same things over and over got very grating. Not that they were not sung well, but there is only so many times you can hear the same two people pining about love.
The stagecraft was pretty magnificent, I have to say. They got very clever with what little they had to work with. I'd have to say that if anyone was in the market for a love story, they'd have to go see this one simply for how well it was staged.
I am never one to say that something is bad or good, and I'm sure there are going to be many people who are fans of this show, but if you are not someone that swoons over love stories, maybe this one isn't for you either.
It was a very cute show but yes it was very predictable. The music in particular I thought was quite pretty, especially the older style music. Loved how they tied that with the important moments of both characters.
My friend said this show gives off a Wall-E vibe. I agreed with her and threw in it kinda has that innocence slightly whimsical feel that I get when I watch a Studio Ghibli film.
I absolutely loved how they incorporated the screens. Thought that part especially was very well done.
I will say though that I do not see this show lasting very long. The amount of resale lotto tickets on the theatr app is CRAZY. Or at least today it seemed so.
My friend was able to get last minute rush tickets at 12pm. $40 mezzanine tickets that were full view. And the view was fantastic from our seats so well worth the money.
