Why, at the end of Jesus Christ Superstar, is Judas there with Jesus after he gets off the cross?

I just saw the 50th anniversary touring production of JCS in St. Louis. At the end of the show, when Jesus comes off of the cross after getting crucified, why is Judas there with him? I can’t find an explanation for it anywhere.
