Speech by Prince Nikola I

In a recent speech made at the Palace in Cetinje, Prince Nikola I spoke about the importance of international relations and looking abroad for the future of our Principality. An exerpt of the speech is below.

"... Montenegro is at a crossroads, my fellow Montegrins. We continue our good relations with our fellow Slavs, in Serbia, Russia, Bulgaria, and other major nations. Despite this, we must cast our eyes outside of the Slavic shadow. Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see! We are but poor boys on the international stage, yet we need no sympathy. We are to now look forwards towards the Great Powers of the world, to help our great nation develop and let Montenegro dictate the terms of Europe!"
