Dateline: Toyko, Japan, 1932
The Japanese Empire has been rocked by a number of violent incidents in the last two months. In January, a Korean nationalist named Lee Bong-chang lobbed a hand grenade at the carriage of Emperor Hirohito at the gates of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. The would-be assassin nearly missed the Japanese emperor, missing his target and killing two horses. The man was quickly captured by the Imperial Guard and is awaiting trial.
In February, ultranationalist group known as The League of Blood (θ‘ηε£δΊδ»Ά Ketsumeidan Jiken) carried out two prominent assassinations including former finance minister Junnosuke Inoue.
What effect this violence will have on the political situation in Japan has yet to be seen.
