For our meeting we will talk about election, have a quick discussion, and then you guys will be able to come up and make announcements or bring up issues, and then we will finish with Q&A. Elder Penguin: You may run for; Elder, Scribe, or Community event organizer

Elder Penguin: Someone else must nominate you on the letterpress after the post is made

Advisor Recker: I nominate myself as dictator

Elder Penguin: And you can either accept or deny the nomination. If you accept, please add on an additional 2-3 sentences with a description of yourself. So on the ballot people can get an idea of who you are, and what you’re about. In case they don’t know you. As you can probably tell we have scrapped the liaison position. We had an idea for them, but it never worked out. Going back to accepting nominations. You can only run for one position. So keep in mind if you are nominated for two separate ones. <Penguin smiles> Any questions? Recker?

Elder Penguin: We also have thrown away our elder interviews. Any final questions? Alright so moving on. This is more of a discussion topic for everyone. Maybe we’ll have a vote about it too. It has come to our attention that many people think our terms are very short. And that the elders stay for many continuous terms.

<Palamo’s cold has spread>

Elder Penguin: Not to be started once away of course, but what does everyone think about possible extending the term size

Elder Penguin: But having the elders rotate out every 2-3 terms.

<People raise hands>

Elder Penguin: Let me finish. We’re just discussing don’t forget

Scharcherl: no term limits! We don’t have enough corruption

Elder Penguin: changing to have a slightly longer term, but with rotations between elders every X number of terms. Please raise your hand to discuss. Mini?

Minimacsniper: I say new elders everyother and terms are 5 meetings

Elder Penguin: Is that all you have to say?

Minimacsniper: Yeah……

Elder Penguin: JDrocks2013. Alright then, recker?

Advisor Recker: I think that increasing the length of elder terms, but adding term limits would be very good. It would allow us to have smaller, more focused elections every month or so. With 2-3 seats open to be voted on and would eliminate the problem of having elders run for many terms continuously.

Elder Penguin: Thank you recker. [Scharcherl]

Scharcherl: Too formal, too many rules. Terms limits are too restrictive. When we get good people, we need to keep them as long as they do well and as long as they want to keep serving

Tad: We could have a cooldown on being elder

Scharcherl: term limits mean kicking people out to avoid corruption

Advisor Recker: The problem with that though, [Scharcherl]

Scharcherl: yes?

Advisor Recker: Is that new people, who would do a good job they won’t ever get a chance to do a good job

Tad: It would refresh the terms to not have the same people

Scharcherl: oh

Elder Penguin: I’m not saying we would kick people out completely just have them maybe take a term break or so

Tad: If we had a cooldown of 1 election

Elder Penguin: Sorry, does that clear it up for you?

Bensplat: We can have it where if they get nominated and gets in for one term the next term they can take a break.

Schacherl: Okay, well, this stuff is getting over my interest lever, tbh I’ll leave the discussion to those who care.

Elder Penguin: Well we want to hear from everyone. We’re just simply discussing, and if you don’t care then tell us even.

Schacherl: alright. Not to say I don’t care.

Minimacsniper: What if they can run for the same office twice so say I get elder next term I can run for community event organizer

Elder Penguin: Please let [Scharcherl] talk unless he’s done of course

TheQuill: I of course, slightly agree with both Recker and [Scharcherl]

Elder Penguin: Please don’t talk out of order if you can withhold it

TheQuill: We do need new Elders, but at the same time, we do need what the people want. What if every so often we had the community decide on who they would like to shift out for who. And then we would have in the end, what the community wanted.

Elder Penguin: Well in that case it would just be another election. Thats what they are now No one HAS to stay in or leave. It’s up to people who vote.

TheQuill: I think we ought to keep it how it is in that case.
