I know the story well, so most of it was just re-told. But the detective towards the end mentioned the trash was already picked up that Monday following the weekend before they started their search for him. And at the time the private businesses had their dumpsters contracted with a company that took the trash to a landfill in Tennessee.

My theory is he was killed (probably accidentally) while in a scuffle at the end of the night (he went back in to bar at 1:55), maybe because he didn’t want to leave. His body was disposed of in the garbage chute that went to the dumpster. Dumpster was emptied Monday and sent to Tennessee where his body is and will never be found.

Then they mention weeks later his apartment was broken into. Whenever killed him would have had his wallet and knew his address. They knew he was dead obviously, and went back to cover up and rob him.

The garbage chute theory comes to me because I have a friend that was killed at a Jason Andean concert in Cleveland at the Indians Stadium and his body was found at the landfill days later by the garbage man emptying his truck. They found out he had been beaten up and thrown down a garbage chute on the 3rd level that went into that dumpster.
