14k in Bay Area…

How much did you all pay? I live in the Bay Area and seems like all the good surgeons are at least 14k. Does that sound right? I know everything here is more expensive but this seems significantly more than other parts of the country. I can’t decide if it’s worth it to just pay the 14k so I can recover at home or travel somewhere cheaper. I found a surgeon I really like in Mexico City that would be 7k including travel, Airbnb, etc but it just seems it would be so nice to recover at home. But also nice to save 7k. But then again would be nice to have surgeon nearby in case of complications…

Would appreciate any advice! Is 14k crazy expensive or normal?
