Girlfriend broke up with me because I lived too far away, then I discovered she is dating someone who lives further away. Am I right to be upset?
Post Body

My last girlfriend (22) and I (26) dated for about two months. At some point, she very politely asked me if it would be okay if we stopped seeing each other because we lived about an hour and a half apart. I had to admit, the gas cost was killing me, but I really liked her and didn't want to cause her any pain, so I agreed that if that's what she wanted, I was okay with that. We stayed friends.

One month later, her relationship status on Facebook updates to a guy who, on a cursory glance of his profile, actually lives further away from her than I do by about forty minutes.

I told some friends that this upset me, because I feel like she wasn't being honest with me when she told me why she wanted to break up ("I met someone new" or "You're not really doing it for me" would have been pretty devastating, but at least they would have been honest). My friends told me that it doesn't matter now, we're broken up and me being upset is gauche.

Are my friends crazy or is this totally kind of screwed up?
