I’ve been with my boyfriend for about a year and 8 months. He was my first boyfriend. We’ve always had a great relationship, and any bumps we had were kind of minor and we got over pretty quickly. Last week he made a comment about my anxiety (something that I struggle with) and it hurt my feelings so texting was weird for a few days. I asked him today if we could talk- so we started talking on the phone. He brought up issues that he had (my first time hearing about them) and they were stuff that were misunderstandings or stuff I could change once he told me. However, he wanted to end things because he was worried that we’d start to resent each other. News to me- because we have always gotten along so well and we’re truly best friends who shared the same brain. This all came out of nowhere!!! and he said lately we haven’t been having as much fun hanging out- but we are college students in the thick of the semester so whenever we do hang- we just do homework. It’s really hard for me to process because the issues he brought up were my first time hearing about them- and were easy stuff I could change. It’s just so because I feel like this is something we could easily work through. We decided to wait 2 weeks, and then decide if we want to continue with no contact, give each other stuff, etc. (part of me has the hope that he will want to get back together but I’m trying to push those thoughts away). It’s just so hard because I feel like we could easily get though this- but I respect his feelings in wanting to “give up”.
Only been a few hours, really hurts that it ended up being over the phone. Just feel so many emotions at once and idk what to do or think or feel.
