I just had a conversation with a male friend of mine who, like me, is going through a break up, and he said this:
It’s like nobody fights for anybody anymore. I dream of having someone who would fight to the death for me.
Which of course made me think of my ex and how much desire I had to fight for him, during our 3 years together, and even now that we are apart. It made me start thinking that perhaps I should keep fighting for him…I love him still, and I do believe that underneath the mess that we made, he still loves me. BUT I also feel like to love him is to respect that he broke up with me and honour that he can not see how we can get past our differences.
So, I guess my question to you is…when is fighting for someone admirable and a sign of enduring love…and when is it disrespectful and a sign of selfishness or desperation?
