You are you because of the experiences you’ve had in your life. Everything that has ever happened to you affects who you are and how you relate to the world around you, especially the difficult experiences. If your heart is broken and you’re suffering, know that not only will that feeling not last forever, but having experienced it will make you that much smarter. That much stronger. That much more empathetic.

Embrace the emotions for what they are, even if you’re not ready to learn any life lessons just yet. You don’t have to take away a “lesson” from every sucky situation. Sometimes just experiencing that range of human emotion is transformational enough in and of itself.
