Trip advice for American

Hi, I will be visiting Rio in mid August for 5 days. I was hoping to either go to Iguazu Falls or Lencois Maranhenses. I realize squeezing both along with Rio will be very tight and near impossible.
So the questions are: 1. Iguazu vs Lencois? 2. Tips for Iguazu, trip length, tours, etc 3. Tips for Lencois, trip length, tours, etc 4. General tips for traveling to Brazil - Uber or taxi? Cash vs card? Best places to exchange money? Any hidden gems in Rio? 5. Should I visit any other city?
