My partner (Bahian) and I (Canadian) just got back from visiting her parents in Bahia and are currently planning to move there as soon as possible. We will probably be living in Salvador.
I want to start thinking about places to visit in the Northeast outside of Bahia. Could be outside the region too but we both love the Northeast so we're eager to visit other states. She does not know the other states very well herself so we'd love some suggestions; cultural, natural, adventurous and chill are all on the table.
By her parents' beach house, we spent lots of time at the beach, eating at the barracas, enjoying the nature and the ocean. I learned to surf while we were there and I'm eager to surf more. We've also started learning capoeira together.
In Bahia, we went to Morro de São Paulo which seems safer now (according to her) but also a bit of a tourist trap. We took a 4x4 out to Garapuá while we were there which we loved way more and saved the trip for us. Kayaking into the manguezal and snorkeling in a nearby natural pool where we swam with tropical fish.
This is not in Brasil but we're dying to visit Panama for Corpus Christi to see the celebrations with the diablico sucio costumes as well as ziplining, as more examples of the sort of stuff that interests us.
Looking forward to hearing your suggestions.
