Hi there,
I'm from the UK and I'm passing through your lovely city in July, and have decided to come a day early so that I can try and catch my first ever ball game.
As your team will be the first ever game I'm going to see in person, I will of course therefore be honour bound to support them henceforth (previous affiliations: nil).
So on the 20th of July I am intending to go and watch the Phillies @Braves, but
I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IM DOING.
How do I pick which seats to buy? Where do y'all sit?
I am pretty much limited to tickets that are available electronically, and I'm happy to spend up to $30-35, but I am keen to sit in an area frequented by fervent fans. I care less about the 'quality' of the seats, and even the view, so long as I can be assured of being in the midst of people who are going to be enjoying themselves (results depending?).
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Furthermore, what should my attitude be to the Phillies? Will I look like a prick when I stroll up in a freshly purchased Braves cap (i promise to take the holographic sticker off)? Should I expect to be hosed by the beer prices? Is there is goto foodstuff that i adbsolutelymusteat?
Do they really have guys throwing peanuts from the aisles?
I'm really excited, so anything you tell me that I might find useful, entertaining, or will help me build up a beef for the Phillies
Much obliged in advance
EDIT: What I've learned so far:
- Given the weather conditions in July in Georgia, I will probably have to leave the tweed at home
- FUCK THE PHILLIES
- In addition to the above, the Nationals, the Mets and the Marlins can also go fuck themselves
- Turn up immediately after breakfast for a shot at catching a ball during practise
- The Chop
- In america it is socially acceptable to sit in an open seat, and without the abject fear that someone will come and turf you out
- FUCK THE PHILLIES
- Georgians in general, and Braves fans in particular are a bunch of good eggs
- lids.com won't ship internationally and over here they only have shitty ones
(Did some research on the native american tribes from the area around Georgia, found out about this chap who was received by George III as "Chief of the Embassy for Creek and Cherokee Nations", chose that for sub flair to represent my new found role as promoter of all things Braves on this side of the pond)
