So I’m about to make a stop at specs today after some errands and I’m really wanting to find a brandy I enjoy. Being upfront I like stuff on the sweeter side, I know there’s liqueur and stuff but I don’t want to settle and be someone who just drinks liqueurs haha and I know there’s a brandy or cognac out there that can satisfy my sweet tooth and that I can sip on neat as opposed to making it into a sugary cocktail, not that there’s anything wrong with that because who doesn’t like eggnog right? Brandy cocktails is something that I would like to try but finding a brandy that I can enjoying neat is my main goal. The only cognac I’ve had is Remy Martin VSOP and buying it I thought I was going to like it because of some of the reviews I read and when I tried it I wasn’t a fan, it tasted reminiscent of wine which I thought was cool but to me I didn’t detect any sweetness and it was dry, and I can’t do anything dry. I think the only thing I enjoyed about it was the texture/mouth feel and the warming sensation.
One of the things I love to drink in mixed drinks and straight is amaretto, so if that says anything about the level of sweetness I am looking for hopefully that helps, although it doesn’t have to be as sweet as amaretto but if there’s something out there that’s as sweet with a higher alcohol content that would be pretty cool. As far as types of brandy I am open to all kinds although apple and cherry do peak my interest and is something that I want to try eventually. Any recommendations is greatly appreciated and thank you for taking the time to read this post.
