It absolutely is true and widely accepted among scholars. Way too much evidence and ethnolinguistic links to simply ignore. Only hardcore Hindu nationalists don’t believe it since it goes against their beliefs that Hinduism is an indigenous religion unlike Islam when in truth they’re both foreign. The Wikipedia article on it discusses it in great enough depth to understand.
