I’ve been told this is a box turtle
Post Body

I’m trying to do better by this turtle. I was told it’s a burrowing tortoise. It isn’t. I keep thinking she is because change is hard for me, even if it is small. The tortoise group was not the friendliest. The vet told me to give her more vitamins (that she hates) and bugs. I would like to help her further. I’ve been giving her fresh fruits and veggies but she just wants the bugs. She refuses anything with vitamins on it. I tried spray, powder, the type that goes in her water. The first picture is her with an ointment to help with a rash that I guess comes from vitamin deficiencies. The second is before I took her to the vet. The vet also Told me to put Timothy hay in her habitat. I give her plenty substrate to burrow in, she has cuttlebone, she has access to 50/50 fruit/veg and bug. She has an oversized water dish. What’s the best diet for her? Am I missing anything? I’ve had her for awhile but I also though she was a tortoise so I fed her like a tortoise with tortoise food 🤦‍♀️ she refuses to touch dry food. What should I avoid? She looks better already since I’ve swapped her diet but I want to go farther and help her more. Does she NEED to hibernate? I haven’t had her hibernate ever. She isn’t even my turtle. She is my bonus daughters turtle. Im changing things as I go. I only have experience with red eared sliders.
