This came up one day when I was talking to a friend, he thinks Ennis beats Crawford and Spence if he fought them right now. But he doesnāt have Ennis on his P4P list. Before Usyk beat AJ many of his fans were already convinced he would beat all the top heavyweights, including fury and wilder. But they didnāt have Usyk as P4P #1. Instead they had the same ol P4P lists as everyone else with Canelo, Crawford, lomachenko (at the time) at the top of the lists. Everyoneās list is basically the same. Isnāt that boring?
I thought P4P meant you were the best fighter, pound for pound. I didnāt know it meant āgreatest resumeā. Can you imagine someone asking you for your list of greatest resume active boxers? Itās like asking you to do math, thereās nothing interesting about that. Just add the good fighters they fought, give em bonus points for jumping classes, and exclude boxers who should be retired.
Nah to me what seems more fun are BOLD P4P lists where someone actually stands by their boxing knowledge. If they believe Ennis beats Crawford and Spence rank him P4P. Thatās an interesting list. Or if you think benavidez beats canelo you have benavidez P4P. Or if you think Kingry beats everyone from 135 to 147 give him P4P#1. That seems funner to read. At least itās unique, stimulates discussion.
Am I crazy for thinking this?
