At this point I’m just not seeing why he doesn’t give other trainers a try. Him staying just because he’s been with him forever is not a good reason to keep him. Sentimentality with your trainer doesn’t win fights. In my opinion, AJs great physical attributes like his power, size, and good handspeed that have mostly defined his success. Yes he has good punching technique, good fundamentals, but his style has never been his highlight. He pretty much always fights upright, is fairly stiff, and has never had a great defense (and of course I’m talking about relative to elite talent). He’s rarely shown great ring savy. How often does he make a great adjustment against legit opponents? People have already shat on his corner for the Usyk fight and rightfully so but it goes beyond that too, and back to his training.
Imo AJ is a great heavyweight who’s accomplished a lot and I think he has even more potential if he fires McCracken. Why not give Shane McGuigan a try? Why not try someone other than Rob McCracken?
