So I was looking at the boxing forums where people like to match boxers head to head. Time machine matches. The general consensus was rocky was too small for most modern heavyweights of quality. (Of course some think Rocky would still beat modern champs.) HOWEVER, many people said that if Marciano fought at CW or LHW he would be the GOAT H2H wise.
Do you guys agree? I just don’t see this. Wins over Moore , Charles, Walcott are good wins but I don’t think that means he beats Roy Jones Jr, Joe Calzaghe, David Haye, CW Holyfield, or Usyk. Moore was not a natural HW and Charles and Walcott were pretty old and not especially big. He’d still lack the reach compared to many more modern champs.
Call me crazy but I can imagine that via eye test people wouldn’t count out a prime Kovalev or even a beterbiev against Moore at LHW.
Do you guys agree with me that marciano, despite being an important figure in boxing, isn’t really that dominant when we think of head to head matchups?
