BK is just a trash boxing announcer and Todd Grisham constantly needles the only decent on-screen talent they have on those broadcasts. It hurts me to listen to Todd (what a perfect name for that gray nothing) constantly poke fun at Sergio and have to listen to Sergio swallow his pride and laugh along, seething the whole time.
Chris Mannix is there to be the typical ESPN-style âembrace the debateâ turd in the punch bowl, and his massive head is perfectly capable of bringing the asinine shit youâd expect from the contrived controversy department. The only problem is: that ship has sailed for just about everybody, and if thatâs all youâre bringing to the table then youâre a dinosaur.
They post full-fight card videos for like a minute and a half after the fight and thatâs it. I prefer to watch the whole card when I get a chance because Iâm an actual fan who actually likes to watch every fight on a card and not the three fights they want me to watch. Once the full fight video is taken down, then all those undercard fights are just gone forever. Why? Why the fuck can I not watch a fight a week, or a month, or any time later than that?
The Usyk-Witherspoon card was abbreviated after Day was badly injured. Now I canât watch that fight because there was controversy about it. Youâre in the fight game guys, fighters get injured, sometimes they even get killed. That doesnât mean we donât want to see how it happened. I know itâs grubby to wanna watch a fight where a dude got hurt, but itâs boxing, you canât just pretend the problem doesnât exist. Pulling the fight from circulation lets us know youâre aware the optics are bad and protecting the brand from criticism is more important than providing a complete experience for viewers. All Iâm really saying there is: donât pretend it ainât a part of the game by pulling the video and never addressing it publicly. Just be real with me! If youâre not letting me watch the video because youâre not comfortable airing that kind of violence, just tell me at least. Donât just pull the video and bury your head in the sand.
The actual broadcast itself has been really inconsistent lately too. Some cards are shot and broadcast in a greater resolution than others and the audio gets fucked up because of it. Sometimes all I can hear is the roar of the crowd, which is great, but confusing because you can just barely hear some announcers beneath the hum of the live audience. I donât really wanna hear those announcers at all, but Iâm pretty sure that wasnât the appâs intent.
Beyond even all that, Iâm so tired of tapping on the full fight card video and having it actually be a completely different file altogether. How hard is it to label a file link on the appâs dashboard? I can tell you exactly how hard: not fucking challenging in the least!
Tldr fuck you DAZN for being a technological horror-show, an entertainment black hole complete with eye-rollingly bad on-screen talent, and an opaque shill afraid of REAL controversy while your broadcasters constantly suck their own dicks talking about corporate contrivances.
