Adrien Broner vs Mikey Garcia

Round 1

Both men going cautiously, sizing each other up. Broner on the backfoot, employing a lot of movement and looking to be very sharp. He lands a couple of straight punches which edges him the round.

Broner 10-9, 10-9 Broner

Round 2

Broner reacting to everything Mikey does by jumping away and moving back. He's been on the ropes a couple of times, but for the most part hasn't been hit much. However, he is hardly throwing back compared to Garcia who landed a couple of body shots.

Garcia 10-9, 19-19

Round 3

More moving back by Broner and stalking by Mikey. Neither man doing too much damage, with Mikey throwing some eye-catching shots which are largely blocked. Still, Garcia wins the round on much higher activity.

Garcia 10-9, 28-29 Garcia

Round 4

Broner standing his ground better now, landing jabs and straights from the outside. While Mikey still has success going forward, Broner is not throwing back appropriately. He edges the round.

Broner 10-9, 38-38

Round 5

Mikey throwing consistent 1-2s which, while blocked, did not receive much in return. Garcia closes the round well with a good right hand.

Round 6

Garcia once again simply throwing more and trying harder, earning the round. Broner has been unable to land anything of note, and generally not much at all.

Round 7

Broner starts the round better, but then once again falls into the pattern of only guarding as Mikey continues to throw. Broner not getting hurt, but outworked.

Mikey puts on a show briefly with his hands on his side, and still Broner doesn't really hit him with much. Mikey landing punches to the body and occasionally in between the guard.

Round 9

Broner starts the round by going forward, and does better as a result. Mikey throwing more still but gets hit by a few harder punches at the end which may have lost him the round.

Broner 10-9, 84-87 Garcia

Round 10

Broner comes forward through this round, and Mikey comfortable plays the role of counterpuncher. While Garcia does the better work, Broner landing a few shots of substance this way.

Round 11

Another close round, as honestly many of these have been. Broner seems to once again do just a bit less as they engage each other.

Round 12

Garcia shows greater urgency, and greater poise as they close out the fight. It remains a tactical affair till the end, with Garcia once again throwing more and keeping his defense tighter.
