What are your boxing hot takes
Post Body

Let’s give some actual hot takes that would get you downvoted to hell or ratio’d on Twitter

Here’s a few of mine

Haney has every valid excuse for the Garcia fight and if Haney was caught using PEDs after beating Garcia fans would care way more

Shakur isn’t fun to watch to the casual eye and that’s ok he’s still arguably the best defensive fighter in boxing and should be appreciated

Prime fury easily beats Usyk

Benavidez is just a weight bully. A natural cruiserweight fighting in 168 where he can take smaller guys punches and deliver harder blows

Mike Tyson is overrated and is the Kobe Bryant of boxing. Their fun to watch fighting style and cultural impact make people elevate them to a status they don’t belong in. Also have another thing in common

Also boots Ennis might be the best boxer in the world

Comments

Boots vs Crawford is a 50/50 fight right now and if Crawford fights him 1 year from now Boots would win.

Shakur would beat Tank easily and make him look basic.

Benavidez could beat any version of Canelo.

Mike Tyson is overrated but I don't even think that's a hot take.

Teofimo Lopez is overrated. He beat Loma because Loma was scared to engage for 6 rounds and if they had a rematch Loma would've won. He doesn't fight to the level of his opposition he just isn't as good as most people think he is. He could arguably have 3 losses on his record.

Isaac Cruz is also overrated. He's PBC's hypejob and his greatest achievement was having a close fight with Tank.

Because there's a lot of demand for the fight. Canelo did 500k against Munguia. He likely does a million or more PPV buys against Benavidez. He's basically cutting his pay in half even though you say he'd easily win.

Why would he not care about making more money than he's made since Golovkin vs Canelo while also getting more credit than he's got for arguably any fight in his career.

If Canelo does not find Benavidez impressive as you said that suggests Canelo thinks he would easily win. Unless Canelo doesn't think highly of himself.

Canelo's pay is decided on a fight by fight basis. Depending on who he fights he gets paid differently based on the scale of the event. Whether he is paid by PPV %, a guarantee, or both, he would be paid a lot more for fighting Benavidez than fighting Berlanga or Munguia.
