Yet another question: regarding thumb holes

Currently I just bowl casual, but I would like to join a league. I was informed the other day that when bowling in a league, if you have a thumb hole it must be used. Is there any sort of plug or anything I can put in and take out throughout the game based on how I want to throw at the time? I only own one ball currently and don’t want to buy another one just yet
