Kinda long but wanted the details there.
Has anyone had arthroscopic medial epicondylitis surgery on their elbow? If so how long were you away from the lanes? Was it worth it?
Backstory: injured my elbow roughly 10 or so years ago, was referred to a high profile surgeon but never went. Im hard headed and was playing competitive softball at the time and didnt wanna quit. I had put the bowling balls up about 12-13 yrs ago, couple years before steady pain in the elbow.
Started bowling again this summer. Well injury got flared up after a bicep strain. Went to the dr and MRI said there was a 6mm edema consistent with a mild - moderate muscle strain(bicep). Elbow- mild partial-thickness tear of the superficial fibers of the common flexor tendon. Took about 8 weeks off with PT and ice. Relief to the point it wasnt a constant throbbing pain. With compression sleeve on my elbow and adjustable compression sleeve on my bicep, im able to bowl, also helps having a high pain tolerance. I can say this has me focusing on being smooth and mechanical, lol. So long I dont force or try to over power a shot im on.
Dr recommended dry needling or the surgery. Honestly i just want to get it done and over with and be back to as normal as possible sooner rather then later. Im not a fan of trying 100 things to get to the end result if there is a less time and money wasting way. Im really enjoying being back on the lanes and also give me something to do with my 7yo daughter. She gets to bowl and i get to practice.
Finished summer up with a 165 avg after having a 175 in 2012. Im already up around 170-175 avg and broke 600 again for the first time since coming back with a 625 last week. Im a very competitive and passionate person so hoping for minimal time missed.
