I bought a new ball (Storm Summit) and for the past month or so have been struggling to learn it. Various speeds, approaches, angles. Nothing seems to be consistent and finding the pocket at times is impossible. I'm normally a 180ish House Shot bowler, but my average this year is sagging around 155-160 trying to learn this new ball. Last night was my worst experience so far, I shot 135 and 127 my first two games. I finally said "F IT" and grabbed my old Storm Invasion that I've had for 10 years, forgot about setting and aiming, and just let it fly at roughly my normal arrows. My third game was a 210 clean.
I don't know if I've made a mistake with the new ball, or if I am overthinking what I'm trying to do, or I just need more and more practice. It felt good to bowl the way I know I am capable of, though, that last game.
