Need help with thumb swelling

Had a 5 game roll off last night. By game 3, my thumb was sticking pretty bad. Lost my revs and control. Through it into the ditch a couple times. Luckily my team bailed me out and we won the league, but I was extremely frustrated.
The thumb fits great the first 2 games, but I always have a swelling problem by the 3rd game. Any ideas how to fix other than baby powder and icing my thumb? Neither of those worked
