Bought a katana 100 watt head and 212 cab; can’t get a metal tone I’m happy with.

I’ve messed with the different amp settings, downloaded sneaky amps, tried different patches and I’m beginning to think I’m just not going to get the brutal death metal tone that I’ve been chasing. I’m not an adept guitarist (I’m a drummer with nowhere to set my kit up) but I’m not a beginner. What am I doing wrong? Is there anyone here that is using their katana for death metal? If so, mind giving me some tips? thanks yall.
