UVHM Progression?

Hi guys! My brother and I (Maya and Salvador) are level 57 doing story quests and we're on the way to Tundra Express. I wanted to ask how should we proceed with UHVM since our guns get old real fast. Should we proceed with story or go and farm useful equipment? What legendaries are good for maya and salvador?
