Just finished BL1 and DLCs, will embark on BL2 next. Any tips for a first-time playthrough?

Finally completed BL1 PT1, DLCs (ZI, Knoxx, Claptrap) using Lilith. I have the Handsome Collection, figured I should change it up a bit and try the Gunzerker class on my first BL2 play, and if its not for me then Maya instead.
Any tips or stuff I should note as a first time BL2 player?
