So. I just beat Borderlands 1 with Lilith and found SMGs were great for absolutely ripping into something.

Well, The Handsome Collection is on PS so I figure I'll hop into that. I start the game off, pick Maya and, I assume since sine The Handsome Collection version includes DLC, I start with a Gearbox Projectile Convergence and another weapon I forgot because I swapped it out with a legendary React Hornet I found.

The React Hornet's great. It's accurate, it swaps into burst fire mode when zoomed, and it deals corrosive damage. I love it. But it also eats through ammo super quick. Then I wind up using the SMG...
The damage on the Convergence is alright but I can't bloody hit anything with it because of the way it flails all over the place.

So, I gotta ask. Are all/most SMGs in BL2 like this or just this one? What would you recommend swapping it with? Gut instinct is assault rifles feel good but enemies seem to tear through shields and such pretty quick, at least here in the early game and it doesn't have the best reload speed.
