I love the new features the dpad makes use of but there are times I miss the ability to quickly switch to a specific gun instead of pressing triangle and cycling through all of them one by one. I thought maybe I just didn't catch the tutorial prompt that explained it, but none of my friends seem to know either and Google pulls up a ton of unrelated articles.
If the answer is just you can't and that features gone now it's fine because I love the ability to ping and switch quests without opening the menu but it feels like it would be easy to implement by like holding triangle then the dpad does what it used to. I'm hoping I'm just an idiot and have overlooked it somehow, but I feel like it's only going to get more annoying when I get my 4th gun slot.
Edit: So a few people pointed out changing to classic button scheme in controls accomplishes this but sacrifices the new buttons. I dug a little further and have found that you can get a little of both by going to customize controls and rebinding Weapon 1, Weapon 2, etc. to whichever of the new functions you don't feel like using. So if you're playing solo mostly and don't need to ping that can be rebound, and you can pretty comfortably lose left d pad and just use right to keep toggling through quests, or both if you play a lot of Co Op and aren't the party leader. This way you can at least always quickly get back to 1 or 2 of your most used guns.
I'd still prefer to see an implementation of tap vs hold or holding another button to make them work that way but this is a decent compromise in the meantime.
