Why is it that old men are convinced raising their voice makes them sound more credible?

Old dude says something irrelevant. I ignore it. Old man raises voice to make the same point. I shut down completely and walk away.

A combination of going deaf and socialization. Usually worked in their middle age/onwards. ("I yelled at my children and they fell in line, so why can't you?")
