I run a stand at a little farmers market, I’m there weekly and also have some used items for sale. Mostly books, albums and those “collectible” postcards of rockstars. The albums are in two boxes, one is a buck a piece, and it’s mostly crap, but there’s a box of nicer ones I have marked at 5.00 or 10.00 and have in plastic sleeves. These are Prince, The Who Led Zeppelin, etc.

This boomer comes in and starts rifling through them, lifting them out of the box, then slamming them down and rifling again. I’m annoyed watching him screw up the alphabetical order but I don’t say anything and start organizing my other stuff. “How much are these ones?” He holds up a beat up Styx album, I say “those are a dollar, the others are priced on the plastic.” He keeps going through and pulls out a few others, including a Prince album priced at 10.00. He starts going through the postcards, and I don’t know how I knew, but I knew he wasn’t going to buy anything.

I start looking through the albums he pulled and he goes “Just LEAVE EM THERE.” I say I’m just looking at what he grabbed, and he goes “You don’t have any of John Lennon?! You got the other three, is there another box?!” I say no, what’s here is what I got, and he gives me a dirty look and throws the postcards back in the box. He picks up the albums and throws 5.00 on the table. “Excuse me, that’s $15.00, not 5.00” “YOU SAID THEY WERE A BUCK A PIECE?!” (Which would have been 6.00 not 5.00) “The Prince one is marked 10.00” “WELL FORGET IT THEN” and threw the albums down. I couldn’t help but laugh, I knew he wasn’t going to buy anything. At that point, he got all red faced and yelled “fuck you!” before stomping off. He tried to complain about me to other vendors but then pulled the same crap on the young woman working at the bakery.
